Please join the Descendants of Enslaved Communities at the University of Virginia for our monthly membership meeting. The Descendants of Enslaved Communities at UVA invites you to join us for our monthly virtual membership meetings on the 2nd Thursday of every month at 7pm ET. Inspired by the Bench by the Road Project by Toni Morrison, "Meet Me at the Bench" is our opportunity to connect with one another, exchange resources, and share about the DEC's efforts.

Join JMRL for a screening of the 2022 documentary The Lives Between the Lines, the powerful film documenting the inspiration for and construction of the Memorial to Enslaved Laborers at the University of Virginia. Afterwards, a panel of Descendants of Enslaved Communities at the University of Virginia will discuss the memorial, their vision and goals for the DEC-UVA, and how they honor the legacies of enslaved and free Black communities and their descendants.
