Setting the Data Free Workshop
With 2026 here, we’re looking ahead with descendants at the center. In collaboration with Out(sider) Preservation Initiative and CCL UVA, we invite you to Setting the Data Free: Imagining a New Online Presence for Descendant Communities on Saturday, January 24.
This workshop centers digital sovereignty, ethical tech, and co-creating tools that better serve descendant communities, featuring conversations on current initiatives and an interactive session on culture, justice, and design futures led by Curry Hackett.

The event runs from 9:00 AM to 3:30 PM at 722 Preston Avenue, Suite #201 in Charlottesville (near Kardinal Hall), with breakfast, lunch, and refreshments provided.
